driftype is a typography engine that runs in your browser. This page says what driftype.com receives when you use it, and what it does not.
Who we are
driftype.com is operated by Graphworks LLC, United States, which is the data controller for the processing described here.
What never leaves your browser
The editor runs entirely on your machine. The document you are working on — its text, its settings, and any font you load — is never transmitted to us. There is no upload step, no autosave to a server, and no copy of your work on our side. Exporting produces a file that your browser hands to you directly.
What is stored on your device
The editor saves your working document and your last export in your browser's local storage, and caches decoded glyph outlines in IndexedDB, so that your work and the fonts you have loaded are still there when you come back. All of it stays in your browser, is readable only by you, and can be cleared at any time through your browser's settings.
This storage is strictly necessary to provide the editor you asked for, so no consent banner is required for it. We set no cookies and run no third-party scripts, tag managers, or advertising code of any kind.
What the site receives
driftype.com is hosted on Cloudflare. As with any website, loading a page means your browser makes requests, and Cloudflare processes the technical details those requests carry on our behalf: your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, the address requested, and the time. This is ordinary and unavoidable for serving a website, and it is used only to operate the site and keep it secure.
Analytics
driftype.com runs no analytics. There is no analytics script, no tracking pixel, no fingerprinting, and no identifier that follows you between visits or between sites.
Why we are allowed to do this
Our lawful basis under the UK and EU GDPR is legitimate interest: operating driftype.com, keeping it available, and protecting it from abuse. We do not sell or share personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
How long it is kept
- Request logs — held by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, under the standard retention that applies to our plan, and deleted when that period expires. We do not keep a separate copy, and we have no mechanism to retain them for longer.
- Anything in your browser — kept until you clear it. We cannot see it and cannot delete it for you.
Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to ask for it to be corrected or erased, to object to our processing it, and to complain to the data protection supervisory authority where you live. In practice we hold almost nothing: without an account or an identifier, a request log entry usually cannot be connected to a person, so there may be nothing for us to find. We will say so plainly rather than pretend otherwise.
